NH bald eagle fledglings hit a decades-long milestone

New Hampshire’s bald eagle recovery reached a notable marker this year: NH Audubon counted 100 fledglings from 64 nests during the 2026 breeding season. It is the first triple-digit statewide total since monitoring began in 1989.

The count reflects sustained work by NH Audubon, Fish and Game, and volunteer nest observers. Monitoring also continues to track risks around nests and gather samples for health testing, so the milestone is part of an ongoing conservation effort, not an endpoint.
