New Hampshire’s crypto ATM rules add a pause before payment

New Hampshire’s new crypto ATM protections are scheduled to take effect Dec. 16. For residents, the key detail is a 48-hour hold on a first transaction, giving the customer time to cancel it and request a refund. The law also caps transactions at $2,000 a day and requires fee disclosures, receipts and fraud warnings.

These rules respond to a familiar scam pattern: someone pressures a victim to convert cash at a kiosk and send cryptocurrency immediately. The protections do not make every crypto payment reversible, but they add specific safeguards for covered ATM transactions.
