Rhode Island nurses get a new online degree path
Rhode Island nurses who want to complete a bachelor’s degree have a new route built around working schedules. The Community College of Rhode Island and the University of Rhode Island launched an online RN-to-BS pathway after an Oct. 1 signing in Warwick.
Eligible CCRI nursing students may receive conditional admission after their first full semester, then move into URI’s bachelor’s curriculum after finishing the associate program. For nurses already on the job, online coursework can remove the need to commute to campus; the schools also cite lower program tuition and scholarship opportunities. URI lists 24 core credits that can take as little as 15 months, while the complete bachelor’s degree requires 120 credits and depends on each student’s prior coursework. The degree is an education pathway, not a professional licensing program.
