Boston’s $20M Roxbury street grant heads to court
NorthEast News is following Boston’s lawsuit over a $20 million federal transportation grant for the Roxbury Resilient Corridors project. The city says the U.S. Department of Transportation withdrew the 2022 award after the project included a small electric-vehicle charging component; that is Boston’s allegation, and the case has not been decided.
The proposed work spans Melnea Cass Boulevard, Malcolm X Boulevard and Warren Street. Boston says the grant would support safer crossings, transit and accessibility improvements, street repairs, lighting, trees and stormwater work. The dispute matters because the corridors serve everyday trips through Roxbury, and the city argues the canceled funding would support a broader safety and mobility package.
Our report lays out what the lawsuit says, what the project planned and what remains unresolved: https://www.northenews.com/article.html?slug=boston-sues-over-roxbury-20-million-street-grant-2026
