Mozilla has released Firefox 152.0.6, and while it looks like a small update on paper, it’s one you’ll want to install sooner rather than later. The release fixes two critical security vulnerabilities for which exploit code is already public, even though Mozilla says it isn’t aware of any real-world attacks taking advantage of them yet.
One of the flaws affects Firefox’s JavaScript and WebAssembly components, while the other is tied to site isolation during page navigation. Both are rated as critical. In its security advisory, Mozilla said, “We are aware that exploit code for this is public however we are not aware of any attacks in the wild abusing this flaw.”
That doesn’t necessarily mean you’re at immediate risk, but public exploit code often lowers the barrier for attackers. Updating now is the easiest way to stay protected.
Beyond the security fixes, Firefox 152.0.6 also brings a couple of changes to Smart Window, Mozilla’s built-in AI experience. If you’re part of the gradual rollout, selecting text on a webpage now brings up quick actions that let you summarize or explain the selected content without leaving the page. Mozilla has also added a row of shortcuts to the New Tab page to make frequently visited sites easier to get back to.
Like many recent Firefox features, these additions are being rolled out gradually, so they may not appear immediately even after updating.
The update also fixes a handful of bugs. One issue prevented users from turning off email tracking protection in the redesigned Settings page. Another could cause Firefox to hang after using a file picker on macOS 26. Enterprise users with older homepage configuration methods also get a fix that restores pages that weren’t loading correctly.
This release continues Mozilla’s recent focus on tightening security while making smaller improvements between major feature updates. Just yesterday, we covered several of the browser’s latest privacy and security additions, including stronger anti-fingerprinting protections, new local network permission controls, and Mozilla’s use of an AI-assisted testing system to uncover hidden vulnerabilities.
Version 152.0.6 also follows last week’s Firefox 152.0.5 update, which focused mostly on bug fixes, stability improvements, and a handful of quality-of-life changes instead of introducing major new features. We covered that release in detail as well, including fixes for payment methods, Android crashes, and download management.
If you’re already using Firefox, this is one of those updates that’s worth installing as soon as it becomes available. The new Smart Window features are a nice bonus, but the critical security patches are the real reason not to put it off.
