Vivaldi has fixed an annoying issue with autofill in the latest snapshot update. The fix was issued in direct response to a number of complaints about the autofill feature crashing on the browser.

Information about the snapshot update was posted directly on the official blog page. This isn’t the only issue that the company addressed; you can take a look at the entire changelog below. The bug tracking numbers are also mentioned next to the description.

On the current (stable) version of Vivaldi, I’ve checked for this autofill bug. However, it worked perfectly fine when I logged into Gmail. It didn’t crash the browser, and the autofill itself didn’t glitch out either. So, it’s probably not that frequent in occurrence, or the bug doesn’t affect everyone.

Note: 8.0.4033.54 is the current stable version of Vivaldi. The snapshot being discussed here is “4086.3.” This is an upcoming, unreleased build.

For those unaware, a Vivaldi snapshot update refers to a work-in-progress build. It’s intended to preview upcoming features/fixes, and is mainly for developers or testers. It’s not recommended for daily use.

In addition to the autofill fix, this version also fixes:

A bug with bookmarks, where sorting falls back to manual sort.
A crashing issue with certain pop-ups on some sites.
Downloading multiple files at once doesn’t issue a prompt.
An issue that’s macOS-specific: double-tap zoom problems.
