Police seized 100kg of cocaine worth £10 million in Liverpool, a day after another £2.6 million haul during Operation Medusa.
Police have uncovered around 100 kilograms of cocaine worth an estimated £10 million after searching a house in Liverpool, marking the second major drug seizure in Merseyside within days.
The cocaine was found at a property in the Old Swan area of the city as part of Project Medusa, Merseyside Police’s ongoing operation targeting organised crime groups involved in County Lines drug trafficking.
A 53-year-old woman from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. Detectives are continuing to question her as the investigation progresses.
The latest discovery follows another significant seizure just a day earlier, when officers stopped a van in Roby, Merseyside, and recovered 38 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of £2.6 million. Police have not said whether the two seizures are directly connected, but both form part of the wider Project Medusa operation.
Detective Inspector Gary Stratton said removing such a large quantity of cocaine from circulation represents another setback for the organised crime groups operating across the region. He added that the force remains committed to dismantling the networks behind County Lines drug trafficking while protecting vulnerable people who are often exploited by those involved.
County Lines refers to the way organised crime groups extend drug distribution from larger cities into smaller towns and rural communities. These networks commonly use dedicated mobile phone lines to take orders and frequently exploit children and vulnerable adults to transport and sell drugs.
While the investigation remains ongoing, the back-to-back seizures have removed more than 138 kilograms of cocaine, worth a combined £12.6 million, from the criminal supply chain in just two days one of the largest recent drug hauls linked to Merseyside Police’s efforts to disrupt organised crime.
